| Why offsite backups are important (posted 23/01/08) Internet backups continue to remain one of the cheapest forms of backup available to your storage site. There were at least two occasions over the Xmas / New Year break where the availability of an internet backup became crucial to a sites ongoing viability. One site had the misfortune to be on the receiving end of flood waters in their office which completely wrecked their computer. The second site was the victim of relief staff downloading music (via a peer to peer networking program) but instead downloaded a virus which destroyed the computer's entire hard drive.
