How can I restore from a backup (server products)?
Instructions on restoring from a server-product backup are provided below. Use this guide only if your usual StorMan database is broken or requires restoration from a backup. If you need a hand, please contact StorMan Support.
| Step 1 | Locate your StorMan backup (e.g. on CD, USB drive or wherever you save it to).
| Step 2 | If the backup is stored inside a .zip (compressed) file, unzip it.
| Step 3 | Copy the .4DD, .4DR and .4DL (if applicable) files into your StorMan database folder. For v4 (and lower), this is normally the c:\program files\storman server\ folder. For v7 (and higher), this is normally the c:\program files\storman server\server database\ folder. If this folder already contains a copy of these files, you will be asked to overwrite them.
Replace the files, then open StorMan Server with the ALT key held down on your keyboard (you will need to hold down the ALT key immediately after launching the program).
| Step 4 | A dialog box (as shown below) should appear, which allows you to select which datafile you wish to open.
If this dialog does not appear, you probably weren't fast enough with the ALT key; you will need to try it again. If you do see this dialog, browse to the location of the datafile you restored in Step 3 - select it, and click on Open.

| Step 5 | Your restored datafile should now open. |
